This hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required for the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Scout Troops and Teams, in order to be considered "trained". This is the instructional Zoom Portion

This is a hybrid course being taught both on zoom and in person with an overnight at McGimsey Scout Park on November 19-20.

The zoom portion will cover all the instructional time while the overnight will provide the hands on experience and the practical exercises.  The in person overnight will be in small groups spaced out. Please eat before you arrive and bring a snack with you in case you need one.  Please bring appropriate camping gear for you to camp for one night.  Cooking is not required, so no cooking gear.  Please bring a camp chair, refillable water bottle, a piece of rope to practice knots and a compass for the map and compass portion of the class.  If everyone has their own we risk less exposure by sharing or passing equipment around (safety first). On Friday the 19th please arrive by 6:00 pm and you should be finished by noon on November 20th.
